After four years of dental school and earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery at UT- Health Science School of Dentistry, Dr. Ewing underwent a post-graduate-doctoral Orthodontic Residency at the highly esteemed Vanderbilt Orthodontic Center that spanned three years. Later, Dr. Ewing received his Pediatric Dental Specialty Degree from NYU-Langone Pediatric Dental Specialty Program after an additional two years of training.
This makes Dr. Ewing dually specialized in the field of dentistry; a privilege only a hand full of dentists in the United States hold.
Over the years, Dr. Ewing has written several research publications and given lectures about orthodontics, pediatric treatments, and craniofacial growth, special needs, cleft lip, and palate, as well as craniofacial deformities. Throughout his residency and after, he perfected techniques in several other specialty fields, including orthognathic surgery, sleep apnea treatment, and TMJ therapy.
Several years ago, Dr. Ewing formed Nashville’s only Pediatric Dental Residency program where he serves as the Clinical Director training future dentists to become specialized in the field of Pediatric Dentistry. The 24-month Pediatric Dental residency program is fully-accredited by the prestigious Commission on Dental Accreditation and is one of only a few programs in the country.

Dr. Su (Suhyun Rue, DMD) was born and grew up in Seoul, South Korea. She is a former ER registered nurse and high school teacher. At age 31, she came to America for her dental education. She received the bachelors of science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She had the honor of receiving her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphi, PA. After dental school, she completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at NYU Langone Health and a two year of pediatric dental fellowship at the Ohio State University /Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
She chose the Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital for her pediatric dental fellowship training to meet her life-time mentor, Dr. Casamassimo (the former chairman of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. His interest are children with special health care needs and oral health disparities for children). The fellowship training taught her the most essential lesson for her dental health care career—Put children patient first.
Dr. Su has a special interest in creating access to dental care for underserved population and caring for children with special needs. She enjoys with all of her patients’ families, and building rapport that lasts for years. Her most rewarding feeling is making a difference in a child’s life—positive experience with dental visits.
Dr. Su is a long-time sponsor of Compassion International (child-advocacy ministry to release the children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty). With her husband, a board member of Fe Viva (Faith Alive) World Missions, she serves to improve dental care for children in Guatemala. Her husband and Dr. Su welcome any one who want to join short term mission trips to Guatemala.
Outside of the office, Dr. Su enjoys spending time with her husband, mother-in-law and church friends. She also enjoys Taichi, Zumba and yoga classes at the Y.
She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
