Sensitive Dentistry for Special Needs Children
Character Image

At TriStar Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics we believe that everyone deserves a healthy smile and this includes children with special needs. Our staff realizes that providing dentistry and orthodontic care for children means listening to their needs and working with families to make sure they are supported when it comes to dental care both in our practice and at home. Whether that means additional treatments to help your child’s smile be as healthy as possible or using sedation dentistry to make sure the process is as pain and anxiety-free as possible. Our dentist has extended his education not only to be an expert in pediatric dentistry but working with special needs children and their families as well to ensure everyone has a happy, healthy smile they deserve.

Sedation Dentistry Options

When sedation dentistry is needed, we work with parents to identify the most appropriate and useful method for their child’s age and needs. Depending on the procedure and the age of the child, you might choose between:

  • Oral sedation administered before arrival
  • Nitrous oxide for pain relief and mild sedation
  • Local anesthetic for procedures

Sometimes, local anesthetic and oral sedation can be used together to help when a situation is likely to involve much anxiety.
